Universal Planit Starter Culture - 1Kg Bag

A broad-use Starter Culture (aspergillus oryzae blend) created for its versatility and economy, our Universal Starter is ideal for use with our Ground Protein, but also makes great koji and produces a reimagined tempeh when used with our legumes. With shorter mycelial filaments than our Traditional Tempeh Starter, this culture produces great cohesion strength for legumes and produces a more savory aromatic, less earthy quality than what classic tempeh is known for.

Recommendation: For classic tempeh grows, use our Traditional Tempeh Starter Culture. And, for maximized flavor development and craft when making koji, use our Artisan Koji Starter Culture.
